Karen Seiger, market enthusiast and author of Markets of New York City: A Guide to the Best Artisan, Farmer, Food and Flea Markets, which will be available for sale and signing, has documented and promoted the recent resurgence of traditional markets in her book and blog. In this talk, she will discuss the treasures she has found in the Village and throughout the boroughs, the impact of these markets on the local economy, and some of the reasons why they are so wildly popular right now. A select group of local food companies who launched their ventures in local markets, including SchoolHouse Kitchen, will also be on hand to answer questions and sell their tasty treats!
