Purple Passion |
TO ALL OF OUR FRIENDS: SHOW YOUR PURPLE PASSION ON VALENTINE'S DAYBrooklyn, NY – February 14, 2008During her sweet life, Mildred Hornbeck shared with me a few of her loving sayings such as "You are the sweet essence of squadrilla seed", "I love you with a purple passion" and "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck." This generous woman would say these things to me and many other children lucky enough to be considered as one of her adopted grandchildren. Mrs. Hornbeck would usually follow-up these sayings by giving me a molasses cookie, pumpkin bread, homemade pudding, any number of her famous jams and a big kiss. So these sweet sayings, along with a person's big heart and good food, are now eternally linked in my mind.
